Presented in a public space: Tape was set up at parallel intervals, 23 feet apart, grid like, marking territory into sections. Wind movement created a number of scenarios, light bouncing off the tape flashed and gave the appearance of light on water, a lake, an energy field, atmospheric interference, a magical force. The oscillating tapes at times seemed to be like farm machinery rapidly moving up and down calling to mind the mechanization of the land, also suggestions of a hoard of locusts bobbling up and down, devouring everything in their path. Other local connections were to trotting poles linking to the thoroughbred horse farm next door and countdown markers (for vehicles) linking to landing strips and the flying club just beyond. In the evening the white tape appeared blue, reflecting the evening sky colours with pinks and yellows also.
"The work looks delightful, elegantly ephemeral but emphatically alive. The work achieves a great deal with very little, in terms of material mass, managing to activate dynamic alternative open readings of the agricultural landscape. Well done indeed." Tom Hackett, Artist, writer and lecturer.
