Preservation by Susan Williams, Banana skins and pins, 205cms x 100cms x 5cms

Banana skins and pins
205 cms x 100 cms x 5 cms

Dried banana skins are mounted on the wall using pins.  Associations include enchantment, voodoo, decay, the dead reanimated, creepy haunted places, both mischievous and humerous whilst being malevolent and threatening.  The processes of preservation also link to Victorian taxidermy displays, nature, butterfly and insect collections.
