Straw and mud
120 cms x 320 cms

Artwork made at the Women and Mud Symposium, Arreciado, Spain calls to mind our spiritual connection to nature and the important perspective of being a part of something greater than us, more enduring.  Strands of straw are attached to the wall using red mud from the farm.  Associations include torch lights, candles, floating, ascending, spirituality, religions, coming into the light, revealing, discovery, the magical, the straw glowing a bright white in direct sunlight or very subtly in the shadow.  The work in the shadowy barn glowed quietly from the walls and called to mind cave paintings or religious frescoes and icons.
